Oliver, the brown bear pictured above, survived 30 YEARS on a bear bile farm in a 'full metal jacket'. His stunted and deformed body was broken after decades in a tiny cage.
Oliver was saved just in time. But without the help of animal lovers like you, Oliver would have died as he lived — alone and in agony.
Although he's gone, we want Oliver's memory to live on forever as a force for good in the world. By signing up to join Animals Asia and giving a regular monthly gift, you'll be playing your part in making sure that no animal ever suffers again, as Oliver did.
Will you join our global community of compassionate people who refuse to look away when animals are in need?
It's not just the bears you'll be helping by joining. From the dogs and cats stolen for meat to the wild animals forced to perform in circuses, your monthly gift is a symbol of hope for all animals in Asia.
Your support will help to:
- rescue, rehabilitate and fund life-long care for bears just like Oliver
- end the dog and cat meat trade with grassroots outreach and public education in Asia.
- enrich the lives of Asia's captive wild animals and put an end to forced animal performances.
Will you be the person who doesn't say 'someone else will do it', but the one who says 'I will help'...
Handsome moon bear, Tuan, was forced to spend more than a decade in a tiny cage next to a pig farm in Vietnam. He suffered repeated bile extractions to be used in traditional medicine.
Will you give a gift today so that more bears like Tuan can be rescued?
The noise from the farm alone drove Tuan insane. We found him trapped in a cage sat in his own filth, pushing an empty metal bowl around. No animal should be forced to live like this.
But thanks to kind supporters like you, Animals Asia were able to rescue Tuan and bring him home to our sanctuary.
Tuan receives expert medical care, a specialist diet, and has enough space to play and roam. He no longer has to endure painful bile extractions or the chaos of the pig farm.
Tragically, there are still hundreds of bears like Tuan out there who need your help. Will you help save and care for these bears with a donation today? Your gift could help us rescue all of Vietnam’s bile bears in desperate need of sanctuary.
Beautiful moon bear, Uno, was held in a tiny cage for 18 long and lonely years. The room in Vietnam where he was kept prisoner had no windows. Uno never saw sunlight during those 18 miserable years. Worse still, he was subjected to repeated bile extractions to be used in traditional medicine.
But thanks to kind supporters like you, Animals Asia were able to rescue Uno and bring him home to our sanctuary.
Will you make a donation today so more bears like Uno can be freed from this terrible life?
Uno now receives expert medical care, a specialist diet, and has enough space to play and roam. Every day he feels the warm sun on his fur and cool grass under his paws.
There are still hundreds of bears like Uno out there who need your help. Will you help a bear today with a donation? Your gift could help us rescue all of Vietnam’s bile bears in desperate need of sanctuary.
Right now, there are hundreds of bears hidden in the darkest corners of Vietnam. Alone, scared and suffering in silence. They’re the Nowhere Bears and they need your help.
Bears like Annemarie (pictured) are held prisoner in tiny cages. Many are farmed for their bile for use in traditional medicine. Sometimes bears are held like this for decades at a time.
With the help of kind supporters like you, Animals Asia have rescued bears in need from building sites, the backs of restaurants, remote islands, and even blocks of flats.
But we need your help to bring every last bear out of the shadows and home to our sanctuary.
Here, Nowhere Bears become Someone Bears. They receive expert medical care, specialist diets and space to play and roam.
There are still hundreds of Nowhere Bears out there who need your help. Will you help these stranded Nowhere Bears today with a donation? Your gift can help us rescue all of Vietnam’s bile bears in desperate need of sanctuary.
For some bears, their lives are spent suffering in a tiny cage, enduring agonising bile extractions.
Give a precious gift today and you can help save and care for Asia's most abused animals.
Bears are ripped from their mothers as cubs and forced into cages, and never allowed to leave. They can suffer for up to 30 years under these awful conditions. Can you imagine the terrible toll this takes on their minds and bodies?
But with your help, we can be ready to save a bear in need. Animals Asia has rescued over 600 bears and we aim to rescue the remaining 400 bears on bile farms in Vietnam. We have a historic agreement with the government of Vietnam to end bear bile farming. But we need your help to end this cruelty for good. A donation from you today can support rescues, rehabilitation and care for these beautiful bears for the rest of their lives.
We rescued sweet Starfire (pictured), a 20 year old moon bear who spent the majority of her life in a tiny, dark cage. Her gallbladder was diseased as a result of bile extraction. She is now in a safe place where she will be cared for and has everything she could ever need.
Sadly, this can’t be said for the remaining bears in Vietnam. We urgently need your help to build a second sanctuary in Vietnam to house the hundreds more bears who are held captive in miserable conditions.
This is a huge challenge and many bears will continue to suffer without your support. You can make history. Please donate today and help rescue Vietnam's bears.
I first visited a bear bile farm back in the early 1990s. I can still remember the putrid smell as I entered that dank room... the mournful sounds of suffering all around me.
I made a promise to those bears that I would dedicate my life to ending this terrible industry.
Over 20 years later we’re now on the cusp of ending bear bile farming in Vietnam forever. We have rescued hundreds of bears. But our first sanctuary is nearly full.
I need your help, your support, so that we can put an end to bear bile farming and make history in Vietnam. I need your help to rescue the last bears languishing on those miserable farms.
Will you help me keep the promise I made to those bears all those years ago? Will you join us today and help us end bear bile farming in Vietnam for good?
Jill Robinson, CEO and Founder, Animals Asia
It’s hard to imagine the damage done to a bear’s body after being held in a tiny cage for years, sometimes decades at a time. The fear, the pain, the misery. Day after day. Year after year.
If you knew you could change the life of an elderly bear and fill the time they have left with care and comfort, would you do it?
Gentle rescued bear, Arthur, survived 13 harrowing years on a bile farm with only slimy gruel for food and cold cage bars for comfort.
It’s no wonder that when Arthur arrived at our Vietnam sanctuary he was in so much pain he could barely stand.
But the generous support of animal lovers like you helped fund our pioneering physiotherapy programme to heal Arthur’s broken body and give him a whole new lease of life.
In just six weeks of physiotherapy, not only did Arthur start to walk with more ease, but he began to play and forage. He even started climbing in his enclosure – something he couldn’t even attempt before he started the programme.
Will you give a gift today so that more bears ravaged on bile farms like Arthur can have a second chance?
Sweet sun bear Aurora was held prisoner in a cage for years. We think she was also subjected to painful bile extractions to be used in traditional medicine?
Aurora was a ‘Nowhere Bear’, hidden away from the world.
Will you help us find more Nowhere Bears like Aurora and bring them sanctuary with a donation today?
Aurora was rescued and now lives blissfully at our sanctuary. She has everything she needs. She is finally a ‘someone bear’.
But there are more bears locked away in cages, suffering right now. We need your help to find and save them. Will you give a gift today and help a bear come out of the shadows and into the light?
Four scared moon bears were recently rescued from Hanoi Central Circus in Vietnam. They’d been forced to perform degrading tricks in front of crowds. But thanks to the support of people like you, Animals Asia were able to rescue them and bring them to our sanctuary.
After knowing nothing but captivity, these bears have a long road to recovery ahead of them. And they need your support.
Please, will you donate today to help heal these four frightened bears?
They’ll spend their first 30 days at our award-winning sanctuary in quarantine where they’ll be closely monitored. Here we can work to ease their worries and gain their trust. This means lots of tasty treats and exciting toys!
We already have over 180 bears living happily at our Vietnam sanctuary. With four more hungry mouths to feed and a lifetime of veterinary care to consider, you can see how the costs quickly mount up.
Please, if you’re able, will you donate today to help care for these bears tomorrow and long into the future?
Storm was born on a bile farm. For years she was held captive in a dark, dingy cage with barely enough room to turn around.
She spent her days dreading the sound of footsteps approaching. For she knew this meant they’d drug her, pierce her tender tummy and take her bile.
When we reached her she was underweight, her fur sparse and patchy, and her skin covered in dirt.
But worst of all, we believe that an agonising injury that was never treated resulted in a severely deformed left hind leg which she’ll likely never be able to walk on again.
Without the kindness and generosity of animal lovers like you, Storm might still be on that wretched farm, suffering unseen in silence.
But together, we were able to give this precious bear a fresh start at our Vietnam sanctuary.
Right now, there are hundreds of bears like Storm hidden in Vietnam’s darkest corners. Will you help us reach and rescue them with a donation today?
Storm’s trust in humans had all but disappeared. And who can blame her after all she’d been through?
It took a long time for her to understand we were there to help her, not harm her. And today she’s blossomed into the bear she was always meant to be thanks to the support of animal champions like you.
We’re sure you agree that all of Vietnam’s last remaining bile bears deserve the same chance that storm had… a chance at the lives they’ve always deserved.
Please, if you’re able, will you donate today to help heal long-suffering brave bears like Storm?
Just over a year ago, with the loving support of people like you, we rescued James, Bân and Alice from an illegal bear bile farm and brought them home to our Vietnam sanctuary.
Right now as you read this, there are hundreds of bears just like them waiting for rescue.
Will you help us reach and rescue them with a donation today?
Stolen from their wild homes as tiny cubs crying out for their mothers, James, Bân and Alice lived in a constant state of fear. The sound of approaching footsteps was enough to fill them with dread.
They were some of the most distressed bears we’d ever encountered on a bile farm – frantically pacing their tiny metal cages, growling and lunging towards our bear carers.
They didn’t yet know we were there to help them, not harm them.
It was clear these deeply troubled bears had never been shown a single act of kindness in their lives. Until bear champions like you, helped to bring them home.
Tragically, we were told there was a fourth bear who didn’t make it. His broken body too weak to hold on any longer.
It breaks our hearts, and I’m sure yours too, to think how close this sweet soul was to a life of freedom and love alongside his three furry friends. That's why we urgently need your help...
There are hundreds of bears suffering in silence on bile farms right now. They’re scared, alone and in terrible pain. And they can only hold on for so long.
Please, will you donate today before it’s too late for even one more bear?
Sky was confined to a cage on a bear bile farm in Lao Cai, Vietnam. Just by looking at this beautiful bear you can see the horrendous affects living behind bars had on her. She was extremely overweight, missing fur and had tough, scarred skin from years of rubbing on the cage in desperation.
But thanks to the generosity of wonderful supporters like you, Sky was rescued. She is free from the horror of a bile farm. Those beautiful deep eyes that once filled with sadness now glimmer with curiosity, calmness and relief.
However Sky isn’t alone, there are many bears out there in cages across Vietnam in pain, struggling to survive and in desperate need of our help.
Most farmed bears are kept in tiny cages, sometimes so small that the bears are unable to turn around or stand on all fours. Some bears are put into cages as cubs and never leave them, existing for up to 30 years under these conditions. Often they grow too large to be removed through the cage door upon rescue, and bear the scars of the tight cage bars on their bodies. This not only has a severe impact on their physical health, but also on their psychological well-being.
We promise we will do everything we can to get these bears out of their prisons and bring them home to sanctuary, but we can’t do it alone. You can save bears. Join our bear rescue team today.
Please, will you free them before time runs out?
Bluebelle was imprisoned on a bile farm for 15 years. The cage she was trapped in was so small she couldn’t even turn around or stand on all fours.
The constant cruelty and neglect resulted in sweet Bluebelle going blind, having a diseased gallbladder and losing a paw.
Thanks to caring people like you, Bluebelle was rescued and experienced 15 years of love, care and happiness at our sanctuary in China before sadly passing away. Her poor little body finally succumbed to the damage done when she was in the tiny cage.
Tragically, many bears are yet to be rescued from this horrible existence. Right now they are struggling to survive behind cold, metal bars. They are scared, lonely and in great pain.

Cubby Leo was held in a tiny, rusting cage in Vietnam for over a decade.
When we found her in the darkness, Cubby Leo was terrified of humans. She paced up and down in the cage. She’d spent nearly ten long, lonely years like this.
Cubby Leo was probably poached from the wild, torn from her mother shortly after birth and forced to live a pitiful existence.
But, thankfully, we were able to transform her life. She now lives her life at our award-winning sanctuary. Here, Cubby Leo receives specialist healthcare, all the food she can eat and lots of stimulation and playtime.
There are still hundreds of bears holding on in dark cages in Vietnam right now. They need your help. A donation today from you could help us rescue more bears like Cubby Leo.
Will you join us? Donate today.
We’ll go to any lengths to rescue a bear in need. Daisy Bell was kept in a tiny cage in a province in Vietnam over 1,500km from our sanctuary.
It was a long and hard rescue, but we were able to bring poor Daisy Bell back to her forever home.
She’d been poached from the wild, probably torn away from her mother, and held prisoner in a tiny cage.
Here, she’d been subjected to the brutal practice of bile farming. Her tummy was pierced with a sharp needle into the gallbladder, and her bile was harvested. It’s agony for bears. It’s cruel, and it must end.
When we found her in the dark, she was terrified of humans. She paced back and forth in her rusty prison. It would have broken your heart to see her in this sorry state.
She’s safe now at our sanctuary, and has recovered as best she can from her nightmare.
We need your help to rescue more bears like Daisy Bell and transform their lives. Will you make a donation today?
Not all abuse is visible. For bears like Daisy Belle, years of cruelty and abuse have a terrible impact on their well-being.
Daisy Belle was locked in a small cage alone with no stimulation whatsoever. She endured excruciatingly painful bile extractions and never experienced a single act of kindness, until she was rescued. All thanks to loving people like you, her life changed forever.
When we rescued Daisy Belle, she was stereotyping (frantically pacing back and forth in a state of panic). It was clear that she was terrified and her mental health was hugely impacted from years behind bars.
Daisy Belle now lives happily at Animals Asia’s sanctuary, she receives all of the care and attention she needs and she has the freedom to behave like a joyful bear should. She spends her days playing with her friends and exploring the natural environment in the sun. Not only is she physically healthier but she is no longer living in a constant state of stress and fear.
But there are many more beautiful bears out there suffering mentally and emotionally, desperately seeking happiness.
Will you join our bear rescue team today and change the life of bears suffering from years of abuse in cages?
The Asiatic black bear - also known as the moon bear due to the moon-like crescent marking on their chests - is classed as ‘vulnerable to extinction’. Bear bile farming is a huge contributor to their dwindling numbers in the wild.
You wouldn’t believe the terror they go through…
Most farmed bears are kept permanently in cages, sometimes so small that they are unable to turn around or stand on all fours. Some bears are caged as cubs and never released, with many kept caged for up to 30 years.
These bears live surrounded by concrete all of their lives, some have never felt grass under their paws.
Christiann lived this way for over a decade on a bear bile farm. She was imprisoned behind bars, her natural behaviours as a moon bear suppressed for years on end.
But thanks to the love of supporters like you, this beautiful girl has since set foot on the soft green grass at our sanctuary in Chengdu, China. Even after a lifetime of confinement, as soon as her paws touched the grass, she began digging.
The ripple effect this has on our planet is extraordinary.
Together we can end the cruel practice of bear bile farming for good and save a species that is at risk of extinction.
You have the power to help end bear bile farming for good. Will you donate today and save more moon bears from this terrible fate?
When our rescue team found Oscar he was close to death.
Trapped in rusty cages, 26 gentle moon bears slowly and silently perished, one by one. Until the day came… Oscar was the only one left.
The bile farmer had simply stopped feeding them.
Oscar was never supposed to make it out of that cage.
If not for the generosity of people like you, Oscar would have died alone and in agony.
We made him a promise that day. It’s the same promise we make every one of our precious rescued bears. A promise that they’ll never feel hurt or hunger ever again.
Will you help us keep our promise?
Please, will you join Animals Asia’s Bear Rescue Team and make sure that rescued bears like Oscar receive the care and love they deserve?
Like Oscar, every one of our cherished bile farm survivors knows the desperate throb of hunger.
Caring for hundreds of rescued bears is expensive and they need your help now more than ever.
With over 320 rescued bears being cared for across our Vietnam and China sanctuaries – and many more to arrive as we get ever closer to shutting down all farms in Vietnam, for good – these costs quickly mount up.
After everything these beautiful bears have been through, we’re sure you’ll agree that they deserve to live out the rest of their lives with the very best care possible.
Please, will you donate today so we can keep our promise to these bears; that they’ll never suffer or go hungry ever again?
In parts of Asia, beautiful moon bears are poached from the wild as cubs and forced into a life of pain, despair and suffering.
These unfortunate souls are held prisoner in tiny cages on bile farms. Here, they are drugged, starved and punctured with sharp needles in their stomach.
These needles extract bile from the bear’s gallbladder, which is then used in traditional medicine.
It is cruel and it is wrong.
But with your help, we have the solution. By joining our Bear Rescue Team with a monthly donation today, you’ll be helping us rescue these bears from this living hell. Your gift can help us bring these bears to our sanctuary in Vietnam.
Here, they’ll receive expert healthcare, special diets and green spaces where they can learn to be bears again.
Please, help us bring an end to bear bile farming. Will you make a donation today?
Oliver suffered for 30 long and miserable years on a cruel bear bile farm. His broken body was stunted and deformed after decades imprisoned in a tiny rusting cage.
Will you help bears like Oliver break free from their cages with a monthly donation today?
When we arrived at the farm our hearts sank. Oliver lay there rigid, his eyes dull. Underneath him, the floor was covered in faeces and pools of urine.
It was clear that poor sweet Oliver was barely hanging on.
We sprung into action to get him out of this hell and on the road to our China sanctuary as quickly as possible.
But halfway through the 1,500km journey home, he began to rapidly deteriorate. His life was in real danger.
Oliver needed emergency roadside surgery to remove his diseased gall bladder and a metal coil that was embedded deep inside the organ.
Oliver was saved just in time.
And this brave, strong bear went on to enjoy four and a half magical years at Animal Asia’s sanctuary, surrounded by people who loved and cared for him.
But without the help of animal lovers like you, Oliver would have died as he lived – alone and in agony.
Right now, there are bears just like Oliver languishing on bile farms in Asia. They need your help.
Will you join our Bear Rescue Team with a monthly donation today to help reach and rescue more desperate bears? Before it’s too late.
We need your help urgently. On September 13, Dien Bien Police* in Vietnam confiscated a bear cub who was being trafficked across the border. They have asked us to rescue this poor soul.
As you can see, this terrified little bear is being kept in a tiny cage. We don’t know much else about them. We do know they will be terrified and we do know they’ll have been poached from the wild and cruelly stolen from their mother.
Will you make a donation to help rescue this poor cub from any further harm?
A gift today from you could help bring this beautiful baby moon bear to the Animals Asia sanctuary.
Here, they’ll receive all the love and care they need for the rest of their lives. Moon bears can live for up to 30 years, so will you consider becoming a monthly donor to help us look after this bear cub for as long as it takes?
Join our Bear Rescue Team and you can save this bear from a terrible fate. Please, give what you can today.
*Thank you to Dien Bien Police for their quick thinking and actions, and for helping us bring this bear cub home to sanctuary.
Torn from their mothers and poached from the wild. Baby moon bear cubs like Wonder urgently need you. Will you become a monthly member of the Bear Rescue Team today and help rescue them from harm?
Baby cubs are stolen from their mothers and kept prisoner in tiny cages. Some will end up as exotic pets, if they’re lucky. Others will find themselves trapped on bile farms in Vietnam.
For the rest of their lives they’ll be drugged, starved, and stabbed repeatedly with sharp needles. Their bile will be taken from their gallbladder and used in traditional medicine. It’s a lifetime of agony for these innocent bears.
But you can stop this. By becoming a monthly member of the Bear Rescue Team you will ensure these bears can be rescued and brought home to Animals Asia’s sanctuary where they can live the safe and happy lives they so much deserve.
Here, these beautiful bears will receive a lifetime of specialist healthcare, a nutritious diet and all the love in the world.
Will you join the Bear Rescue Team today so more baby bears can be rescued from this terrible fate?
Bear cub Wonder had a horrific start to life. Snatched from the wild by a trafficker and torn away from her mother’s arms. Trapped in a cage so tiny that she could hardly move.
But thankfully, sweet Wonder narrowly escaped a terrible fate and is now safe at our sanctuary. She’s already stolen the hearts of our loving team there. Will you become a member of the Bear Rescue Team with a monthly donation today?
You’ll help Wonder get everything she needs for a life filled with joy. It costs around $35 a week for food alone. There’s also many other additional expenses such as expert healthcare and a place to play.
We made a promise to Wonder that we would care and be there for her for the rest of her life. This could be around 30 years of life filled with happiness. But we can’t do it alone. Will you help us keep our promise? Join our Bear Rescue Team and provide life-long care for this sweet cub.
Give the life-changing gift of a monthly donation to baby Wonder.
For Vietnam’s last bile bears, living in pain and misery right now... every single second counts.
As bile farming in the country collapses, it’s a race against time to save every last bear. They urgently need your help.
Will you become a member of our Bear Rescue Team today? As a member, you’ll ensure that we can rush to save more bears like Tuan.
When a call about a bear, or two, or 10 comes in, it’ll be your generous support that ensures we’re ready to spring into action right away.
We never know who we’ll find and what state they’ll be in… a grief-stricken cub ripped from their mother or a veteran bear of the bile trade like Tuan, left hopeless after 15 years caged alone in his own rotting filth.
What makes this all the more critical is that so many of Vietnam’s last remaining bile bears are already sick and in need of urgent medical care. Days… hours… minutes… matter to these desperate souls.
For bears like Tuan, holding on for dear life, your kindness can't come a moment too soon.
Please, will you join our Bear Rescue Team to reach and rescue every last bear before it’s too late?
We found beautiful moon bear Phoenix in a cage on a construction site in Vietnam. She was pacing back and forth, and was clearly very distressed.
Poor Phoenix had been kept in a cage for 11 long and miserable years. The only time she was allowed out of this cage was for painful bile extractions. It’s hard to imagine the suffering and agony Phoenix must have experienced.
But you can help rescue more bears like Phoenix. We know they’re out there, right now. Holding on for dear life. Will you join the Bear Rescue Team today? Your support could make all the difference.
Phoenix is safe at our sanctuary now. The other bears out there are not so lucky. Join us in this race against time to help find and rescue bears like Phoenix.
We urgently need your help. On 29 November, Tủa Chùa Forest Protection Department* in Vietnam confiscated a bear cub who was being trafficked across the border. They contacted Animals Asia immediately and asked us to rescue this poor soul.
As you can see, this terrified little bear is being kept in a tiny cage. We don’t know much else about them. We don’t even know if they’re a boy or a girl. We do know they’ll be terrified and we do know they’ll have been poached from the wild and cruelly stolen from their mother.
Will you make a donation to help rescue this frightened and confused cub from any further harm?
A gift today from you could help bring this beautiful baby moon bear to Animals Asia’s sanctuary.
Here, they’ll receive all the love and care they need for the rest of their life. Moon bears can live for up to 35 years, so will you consider becoming a monthly donor to help us look after this bear cub for as long as it takes?
Join our Bear Rescue Team and you can save this bear from a terrible fate. Please, give what you can today.
* Thank you to Tủa Chùa FPD for their quick thinking and actions, and for helping us bring this bear cub home to sanctuary.
Bile farming is about to be banned in Vietnam – forever.
But with only four rescue places left and as many as 400 bears waiting to be saved, these gentle survivors urgently need your help.
Will you donate to make sure Vietnam’s last surviving bile bears have a safe place to go?
Tuong Lai spent 16 harrowing years hidden in a dark room at the back of someone’s home, secretly suffering regular bile extraction.
Broken teeth, missing toes, sharp steel needles left inside her body... she’d endured unimaginable misery before kind supporters like you helped us rush to her aid.
Tuong Lai made it to sanctuary. But right now, the lives of bears just like her hang delicately in the balance. They’re waiting and hoping for your love to reach them before it’s too late.
We need to complete the first phase of the build as soon as possible so that we can be ready for the next desperate bear or two or 10 in need of rescue and rehabilitation.
But with your support, we can ensure that no bear is left behind.
Please, don’t delay. Give today and help build a safe sanctuary for precious bile farm bears like Tuong Lai so that no one can ever hurt them again.
Sweet moon bear Kim, along with four other bears: Mai, Star, Mekong and LeBON suffered more than 13 years of cruelty on a bear bile farm in Vietnam.
The bile industry had broken poor Kim, causing her unbearable pain. Not only was she stabbed with needles so that her bile could be extracted, she also had fractured teeth and most of her tongue had been ripped out.
When we reached the bear farm where Kim was imprisoned, she was in a terrible state. She weaved her body from side to side repeatedly and was biting the bars of her farm cage in frustration and desperation to escape.
She was denied any stimulation and was unable to express natural behaviours which left her traumatised and her body broken.
Kim’s deep psychological scars have finally begun to heal. But her rescue, and that of the four other bears, Mai, Star, Mekong and LeBON, would have never been possible if it wasn’t for the compassion and kindness of people like you.
You can help us put a stop to this. You can help us reach more bears like Kim still on farms before it’s too late. Donate now and join the Bear Rescue Team today.
Watching gorgeous Goldie tumbling across the cool green grass, climbing high towards the blue sky or wrestling tirelessly with his best friend Murphy is like food for the soul.
Though he is easily one of the happiest bears you’ll ever see, the truth is that he had an awful start in life… that his path could very easily have gone off in a different, darker direction.
Will you help save more bears like Goldie from a lifetime of suffering?
Goldie was found all alone in a tiny cage at just six months old. His mother was most likely killed by poachers so that Goldie could be sold for a profit.
Had his traffickers not been caught, and had it not been for the generosity of people like you, his life could easily have been one of pain and suffering on a bear bile farm.
Goldie was saved just in time. But the callous slaying of mother bears and the trafficking of their terrified cubs continues today.
Will you help put a stop to this cruel trade? Join our Bear Rescue Team with a donation today to help ensure we’re ready when the next desperate bear cries out for help.
When we found traumatised moon bear Merricks he was in a bad way.
He had a nasty open wound on his chest and a mouth full of fractured teeth. His tired sunken face was covered in scars from repetitively rubbing against the cage bars – a sure sign of mental decline.
Will you donate today to help broken bears like Merricks?
Perhaps worst of all, was the discovery that this poor sweet boy was completely blind and probably had been for years.
You can imagine the terror he must have felt the day our Bear Rescue Team arrived. There was no way he could have known we were there to help, not hurt him.
For years Merricks would have heard footsteps, the clanking of metal and felt the agony of bile extraction. Every sound and smell could have signalled more suffering to this poor traumatised soul.
Will you join our Bear Rescue Team today to help reach and rescue more desperate bears like Merricks before it’s too late?
Tiny moon bear cub Georges was rescued alongside another cub, Baruffa in 2011.
It would have broken your heart to see this little lost soul with a chain around his neck, already exhibiting the repetitive behaviours often seen in long-suffering and deeply-stressed adult bears.
We had no idea where the pair had come from. They should have been with their mothers in their beautiful wild forest home, not a dirty, rusting cage little bigger than their bodies.
Will you help make sure little lost bears like Georges have a safe place to call home?
To think what kind of life Georges and Baruffa could have had if generous supporters hadn’t helped get them to the safety of our Vietnam sanctuary doesn’t bear thinking about.
Bears like Georges are still being illegally smuggled across Asia in the brutal trafficking trade. These bears – scared, confused and longing for their mothers – could end up on bear bile farms, in circuses or caged as exotic pets.
That is no life for a bear.
Please will you join our Bear Rescue Team with a donation today? You could help save bears from a lifetime of pain and suffering.
Beautiful bear cub Wonder had a horrific start to life.
She was confiscated from a trafficker in Vietnam, trapped in a cage barely bigger than her tiny body. She’d been torn from her mother’s loving arms and stolen from her wild forest home.
Will you help little bears like Wonder today?
Wonder, and bears like her, are smuggled across Asia in the brutal trafficking trade to be sold for profit. These bears – scared, confused and longing for their mothers – could end up on bear bile farms, in circuses or caged as exotic pets.
That is no life for a bear.
Instead – thanks to kind-hearted and generous supporters – Wonder is now safe at our sanctuary. Her personality has blossomed and her confidence grows every day.
But we need to be ready for when the next bear needs help. Please, will you join our Bear Rescue Team with a donation today? You could help save bears from a lifetime of pain and suffering.
Will you help save bears like Clara from awful bile farms before it’s too late?
Bears on bile farms suffer the most unimaginable pain. There are hundreds holding on for dear life in Vietnam, waitng to be rescued.
The only thing stopping us getting them and bringing them to safety is building a new sanctuary. The plans are in motion. Will you turn our dream into a reality?
Clara is safe now. She’s healing at our sanctuary and has started a new life, free from pain.
Don’t let the others still out suffer a minute longer than they have to. Join us today.
Will you help save these bears from dying alone and unloved on bile farms?
It’s hard to imagine the torment bears endure on bile farms.
